double checking the calendar

i miss fall.

our family recently made a move to the sunshine state (florida).  since we've been here, we've had all of i think 3 days below 88 degrees.  this is a big change for this northern girl.  growing up in ohio, going to college in tennessee, and living in kansas all of my married life thus far, i am not loving this hotness.  we got just a little taste a couple weeks ago, and i was so excited to put my boys in jeans and hoodies.  and i cracked up at the people at church who put on their scarves and gloves for a 55 degree sunday morning.  but it lasted about 48 hours.  it's been back in the 90's ever since....is it really almost november?!

christmas will really be strange this year.  no hope of white christmases here...only draping lights on palm trees for us...

i know, i know, you're saying "oh, please, how hard it is to deal with all the sunshine and blue skies."  it's nice, most of the time....but do you ever crave a rainy day?  and how fun is it to snuggle up on the couch with hot cocoa and watch a movie?  the thing i was always amazed with about seasons is how they always seemed to change at just the right time....just when you think you can't bear another day of snow, out comes the sun and up come the flowers....and when you're melting in the heat, it breaks, cools down and the leaves start to turn.....

so, you northerners-be thankful for those blustery days (thinking of winnie the pooh).....and if you start lamenting to cold, look at those beautiful leaves, or that white fluff, and think of us down here in the sauna of the south.....bundle up and breathe in that cold air for me.

:)

I will bottle up our 100 inches of snow and send it your way!

i felt the same way in az. while i don't like being cold, it's just weird to not have seasons!

i feel for you...it's only in the 70s here, but as much as i long to listen to christmas music, drink gingerbread steamers, and put on a coat when i leave the house...it just isn't happening!
i went to the mall last night, the christmas tree is being put up...ummm, try a beautiful summer evening in kansas...catching lightning bugs, not presents and candy canes.
i'll pray for some more cold days for you. ;)

miss you and your sweet boys!
